Post Lets talk bearings...
Im going to convert my longtail from bronze bushing lower unit to bearings soon to gear up for running lines, have access to a lathe, milling machine, welder, ect. Who has done this? I have a plan in my head but what Im thinking is to weld pipe onto my existing shaft housing that would be the correct ID to match up to the OD on the bearings and thread the outside of it to fit a cap. Thinking about stacking two seals in front of the bearings going out into the shaft housing, then behind the bearing run one going in and two more going out to the prop side... Seem right? Not trying to buy a kit from anyone, this build has been 100% homemade and id like it to stay that way. Thanks

Find a threaded coupler to match the od of your shaft tube and a sealed bearing. Grind out threads from one end of coupler leave some threads on the other. Get a threaded plug and find center on it and drill a hole slightly larger then your shaft. Then slide the grinded end over and weld it. Make sure to leave enough space for seals and bearings inside the coupler.

At least that's how I did mine on my short tail.
