 Cracked Welds
My Dixie frame has developed a few cracks in the welds where the motor mounts attach to the belt box. The problem appears to be poor weld penetration. Since the frame is aluminum and prone to cracking long term anyway, I was thinking of leaving the welds alone and adding some bolts to reinforce the joint. Is this a reasonable fix or should I just repair the welds?

It's already partially failed...Repair it right the first time so you don't have to go back & mess with it again!
I'd have a welder look at it that just my $0.02

Man that sucks dude. Shame he's not standing by his product. I would find me a competent welder and just have him fix it up for you. At least then you know your welds will hold up.

 Re: Cracked Welds
Its hard to get good penetration on that thick of aluminum with an average mig welder, have the welds ground out and tig welded then put a couple bolts in, if there's room. Can't hurt anything. Is that a crack going down the weld on the left of the first picture or rub marks?
