Hoyt just helped us out with a new drive shaft housing, got it installed last week and the second trip out we got rear ended by some moron. It wasn't a huge hit because the prop went through his head light but there was enough force to bend our trailering bracket that the motor sits on and it also bent the rear rail on the trailer where the trailering bracket attaches. The out drive doesn't show any cracks or bends and we actually ran it latter that day while fishing and couldn't notice anything out of the ordinary. One thing I did catch was the belt alignment, it wants to ride up against the clutch. I know it wasn't like this before because we had shimmed the motor when putting the new drive shaft housing on and the belt was siting on the sprocket about perfect. Anyway....I'm pulling it apart today and going to take a look and was wondering if anyone had any pointers as to where or what I need to look for. Will also be calling Hoyt when I get a chance. Thanks. |

Being that the accident is not your fault, I'd have the other insurance company pay to have your boat picked up, delivered to Gator Tail and fully checked out. No point taking a chance on any hidden damage that may bite you in the rear in the future. |

Would love to swing by Gator-Tail, but being that I live in California that wont work! Pulled it apart and everything looks fairly good as far as the drive shaft and housing goes. The tilt and trim is toast and the prop is out of whack. |

Reread BoatDr's post. Have his insurance pay. The least they can do is pay to crate and ship just the motor. |

Insurance should have totaled the motor... Then you could buy a new one with all of the cool shit on it and then fix that one yourself and have two... |
