I just picked up a used 23 HP Copperhead. How often should I grease the prop shaft? How many pumps? How do I know when enough, is enough? Can I use the same marine grease I use on my hubs? Thanks Fellas! |

First off I know nothing about copperhead s, but as long as you use a quality marine grease on you hubs yes. As for the prop, depends on the way they are setup, they're not a manual online Samsung S5 |

My first copper head they said do not grease it, My last 12hp I had to grease, My new 18 I have not took it off the pallet and read the instruction to see whats needed. I would call copperhead and check. |

I've called Copperhead twice but I haven't gotten a call back. Anyhow, there are zerks on the drive shaft. One by the prop and one on each side of the pulley for the belt. |

What Puddle Jumper said.... I don't wait twenty hours though. I have a little mini grease gun with marine grease that I keep in the truck and just give it a shot after pretty much every couple hunts because it only takes seconds and I am pretty anal about maintenance. The zerk by the prop takes very little and you can feel the backpressure when it is full. On mine I don't ever get any backpressure on the other zerk so some of it is probably going into the shaft. |
