I recently purchased what I thought was a stock 25 gtr prop. It measure 11" and figured it was a no brainer. Well it is not for my boat, I could only turn it 2200. It has a crazy amount of cup in it.

I loaned it to someone with a hopped up 35gtr to see how it performs. Butafter reading the thread MarshJB posted it sounds similar to the one he had made.

I'm curious what the application is on it. I dont think its a re-worked prop because it wasnt polished. But I know nothing about props so I could be wrong. It would be nice to know what/where it came from and was intended for.

Polished I'd the factory blade and the other is the prop in question.

I thought it might be an engine issue but when I put the original back on it ran as it always has.

Looks like it's got a good bit of cup. From the rpms you are saying, sounds like a mod motor is needed to turn it.

We sandblast the props, or polish, depends on what they want.

So it could be a modified prop then?

Since your close to bauman's take em both over and have him check the pitch of old vs. new to make sure .. Dropping 1800 RPM's is crazy cause I know a guy that's always told me 1" of pitch cause a 200 rpm change .. Up or down

And there's a ton if it.

3ck has it to run in his modded motor. We'll see how it does on it.

Looks like a Hopkins. I have 1 as well couldn't turn it. I polished it and it's a night and day. Still runs low RPM's though.

That's a worked prop someone beat the cup in it and that's y u dropping so many rpm a modded motor should turn it fine.

They are the same prop just not polished[/quote]. If they are the same why am I having to use higher rpms to turn it?
