 question bout a longtail prop
i have a 20 hp beavertail, i think that a 9x4 or a 9x5 comes on it stock....do yall think that a 9x7 would be too big for it?? ive heard of some guys putting a little bigger prop on their motor, but is this prop too big? any advice will help.

Re: question bout a longtail prop
My 23 GDLT came with a 9x6 and on a 16x48 (500lbs) and it was the best all around pitch --- I tried the 9x7 and solo it was faster by 2 mph but with 2 man hunting loads it was about 2 mph slower than the 9x6 and weak "in the hole"....
Every hull is different --- but with the LT each pitch change is pretty drastic --- the 9x5 might even be a better choice if your hull or loads are on the heavy side...
If your usage is hard on the prop - ie - lots of sand and oysters then if you start a bit "overpitched" it will wear into a sweet spot...

Re: question bout a longtail prop
thanks for the advice, i think i might go with a 9x5 or a 9x6...which ever is just one step up from stock...i can't remember. i think that the 9x7 might just be a lil too big. most of my loads are 2-3 guys and all the random hunting necessities....
