Can't rely on West Monroe advice

But, seriously, are there seals where the shaft joins to belt housing which could leak or is it more likely the shaft seals near the prop?

Id say by the prop. I've seen almost all mb do that, that's why I liked to grease mine more often

New seals (and bearings). Water can't get to the shaft at the belt housing end unless there's water in the belt housing. So if the prop side isn't leaking, you got a leak in the belt housing that needs dealt with along with the seals. The drain in the bottom of the housing was leaking on mine, but a little silicon around the threads took care of that. And yes, there are seals at both ends of the shaft. More than likely prop end, though.
