Post subject: | Prop question for longtail motor |
I recently bought a home made long tail with 6.5 hp engine. I didn't do my research before I bought it and discovered it has a 5/8 prop shaft. Since all the props online are 3/4 by 10. What should I do? Is there a bushing or something i can buy? Do I need to buy a 1/2 inch and bore it out to 5/8? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks |

Where did they get a 5/8 prop from? You may be able to get one with custom threads. Hopkins props website says something about different sizes. Unsure if they would do something of that nature tho |

The guy who built the motor took and old aluminum 3 blade prop and modified it to fit. I just didn't know how hard it would be to find a mud prop in 5/8 when I bought it. |

u cant find a 5/8 thread prop u can have the current one bored and out and press sleeve in it and rethread the sleeve but that could get expensive u probably better off changing the shaft and prop after the current one is worn out |

Thanks for the advice. Changing out the shaft seem like the best advice. That way I don't have to pay for custom prop work every time. |
