Since it was brought up in the other thread... Which MM (PD, GT, GD) trims down the furthest? As in we need measurements from the bottom of the hull out in a straight line to the center of the out drive and measure that angle... I'm actually curious to know. Perhaps this will also allow the other thread to get back on track. |

just from looking at the pics, the gtr trims down farther but the godevil looks like it might reach deeper because of the longer tail shaft. |

With the longer shaft - the operator also has more options among a bunch of cypress knees and debris as to where he puts the prop down too - and re-positioning up and down with a balanced MM is quick and easy too - with less than 5lbs of force at the tiller - no waiting on hydrolics or heaving on a heavy outdrive..... http://texasbackwater.com/ Go see some neat un-cut "slow rollin" videos done by an "old man" with a Go Devil Surface Drive.... |

bayouboy dat grab bar is fukn sick lookn..  i find da trim angle on ma pd digs plenty deep enough for me n da situations i get maself into. the only prob. i have is ma trim angle in rev. da prop hits da bottom of ma boat. other than that can't complain

I cut that bar off the bottom of my skeg about six months ago and haven't looked back.Much better in the lillies and grass. |

Judging from the pics, all three look to be about the same....are at least within a few degrees of each other. Not that it matters. I slow rolled over some logs today to see what all the fuss was about. the PD had no problem with it. But I dont see the point....from here on out I think I will just haul ass over them like I usually do.

a PD skeg without that bar on it will gain some speed and do a lil better on hard bottom while sacrificing ur prop.... but it WILL NOT do better in lillies or any other vegetation. |

placebo not saying ur skeg doesn't do better in veggies, but if anything it's because of the change in angle. It is not the lack of a round bar. Veggies will always slide off of a round bar better than a sharp edge. Go find a crawfisherman with a lilly keel and see what's on da edge of it.... |

Your dead on Myboy, The stock skeg with out the round bar does indeed do better on the harder bottoms and may be slightly better in preformance. In the lillies the lack of rake on the upper front edge causes the veggitation to build up. I increased the rake angle which has helped the grass/lillies to slide down rather than build up. Its not 100% effective, but it is noticably better over the stocker with the round bar. Its still in the R&D fazes. |
