Post subject: | Help on gear and prop selection. |
So Im almost don't with my surface drive build. Its come down to ordering the gears and prop. Im running a Predator 420 on a tracker 1236. My usual load is 2 people guns dekes and a blind. I was going to go with chain and sprockets to tune in my sprocket size then find something comparable from Gates and use a 3/4 or 1 inch belt. My question is what top and bottom pulleys and what prop should I go with. This is my first surface drive build and I was to get it as close as I can with this first order. Ive narrowed it down to a few sprockets to give me a good range of gear ratios. I was thinking of buying 16T, 18T, 27T, and 28T sprockets. this should give me ratios from 1.75:1 with the 16T/28T combo all the way down to 1.33:1 with the 18T/24T combo. I could even get close to 1:1 with the 16T/18T if I wanted to. I am hoping I am on the right track.. All these sprockets are pretty inexpensive so I don't mind buying a few and tweaking to get it right. My Main questions are 1. does the sprocket setup/selection look good or should I go with a different route and 2. what size/style prop should I go with. I want to turn a bigger prop to take advantage of the ability to gear down the motor but I just don't know what size to buy and at 150 bucks a pop I don't want to shoot in the dark and hope I got the right one. Sorry for the long story I just wanted to be sure I got all the info out there.. Thanks in advance for the help! |
