better go to a bearing shop and match it. Local machine shop can build a shaft. |

What type and size of bearing I can't seem to get my lower unit apart to pull them out but the bearings seem like they are making a awful noise and want to replace them Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Not sure what year motor, but it should be a 1in shaft tapered to 7/8 on both ends. One end threaded and one end tapered with keyway for pulley/taperlock bushing. If it is a 7/8 shaft, have the bearing caps on both ends cut to fit seals on both ends. Dixie only had one seal on the prop side. It is notorious for leaking water and ruining bearings. I had my bearing caps cut to fit a seal on each side of each cap for a total of 4 seals. Then filled entire outdrive tube with grease. I had my shaft cut to match the original one but went with stainless. seals: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008E7 ... UTF8&psc=1 bearings: http://www.vxb.com/page/bearings/PROD/inch/Kit7485 should be able to find bearings cheap on ebay |

Prop you can take a rubber mallet and knock it off the shaft. Lefty loosey. To get the tail shaft off you'll have to loosen the motor bolt from the frame to lean it backwards and allow slack in the belt. Remove the belt off the upper pulley. Take off the nuts holding the tail shaft on. Use a putty knife to try and loosen up some of the RTV holding the tail shaft on and should come right off |

You should take the prop off before you pull tail shaft off. If you didn't you will have to find a way to hold the gear and hit the prop with a dead blow or rubber mallet. The gear comes off by removing the two screws in the gear and putting one screw in the open hole tighten down and the gear will slip off. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
