Need prop expert opinions and insight.
So i have reading and asking all kinds of questions on a refuge model 22 hp sd build im working on. I run tidal refuges 70% of the time. So with the feds its neccesary. And yes they do carry tape measures.
My newest question has moved to prop selection. And not what brand is the fastest or digs the deepest but what to use for 9" refuge legal.
I have tossed the idea around running 1:1 ratio and a 9x6 longtail. But have heard of refuge model sd props that run a 9x10p-11p-12p. Of coarse i would gear down to run the larger pitch. But i cant find one with a 3/4" threaded bore.
If i went with the longtail set up to be legal i understand what i need as far as prop and pulleys. I dont know how it would run compared a sd set up?
If i went with a sd set up i guess i would just get a 9x9 and get it repitched. i know id have to play with gear ratio a little to fine tune it or get it repitched but would it be better performer than a standard longtail set up on a short tail?
