If I pumped too much grease would it possibly throw a good bit of the new greese around inside housing? I didn't see grease in there last time I looked. I also didn't see much old grease come out. Maybe the seal broke in there?

What do yal experts think?

1. is it a GTR?

2. how many tubes did you pump in - I think the record is now at 5

Haha. No its a mud buddy. I bought it used figured I'd put some new grease in it for a warm and fuzzy. I removed little relief screw and gave it about 10-15 pumps. Nothing crazy. Let it ooze out. Put the screen back in next day I ran the boat. Took the cover off and saw all the blue grease I put in thrown around. Seal? Or normal?

Post subject:  Re: grease inside housing being thrown by belt.

it's not that bad - but it does remind me of a funny story,

A penguin brings his rig in to the shop because it's leaking grease, the guy says it'll be a few minutes before he can tell what is leakin' and tells the penguin to go across the street and get something to eat or drink, so he does and has a ice-cream cone, but he's penguin and doesn't have any arms/hands and gets ice-cream all over his face.

penguin goes back to the shop and the mechanic says "looks like you blew a seal" and the penguin says " no it's just ice-cream"

Gotcha. If you can't get it figured out give Kevin Lusk a call at Lowcountry Mud Buddy. He's in Moncks Corner.

Its simple to change, the dixie motors are setup very similar to MB. I actually just had this issue. I filled with grease, (whole shaft housing held 2 tubes of grease exactly.) I pulled the relief plug and filled until it came out. I ran the boat this past weekend and had a small amount come out into the belt box. I may have blew the seals out, but Im gonna run it for a little bit more and see if any more slings out. When I pulled the relief plug the second time the grease seemed pressurized and actually came out of the relief plug on its own.

If you need to see a video, Google how to remove a taper lock. Should be a YouTube vid out there. On the seals I'm not exactly sure how MB did theirs. On mine I used the bearing cap and had 2 spots for seals cut. You should be able to pry them out, then they will just tap back in. If not you can try a bearing puller tool to pull them out. Then use a socket to tap the new ones in.

Just a seal, correct baron? I was about to go to sleep until I saw your comment. Makes me wonder if it could be more than just a seal haha

I would go to sleep. If it's more than just a seal, it ain't getting fixed tonight.

Ya your right about that brstanle..

Post subject:  Re: grease inside housing being thrown by belt.

That's an easy fix man. Check out the shaft and make sure there's no marking on the shaft from that spring being against it. Other than that, throw a seal in it and roll. If you have a parts house worth a damn local to you, pull it out, take it to them and they can match it up. FYI, over-greasing will do this very thing. Keep in mind that grease expands when it gets hot during operation. If there's nowhere for it to go, path of least resistance is going to be that rubber seal every time ;) Definitely grease it ENOUGH, just not too much...

Post subject:  Re: grease inside housing being thrown by belt.

When you fill the mb with grease your suppose to run in gear with relief plug out for 5 minutes. This process allows grease to expand, then you plug.

So I took a screw driver and pushed on that seal that was blown. It popped right back in and looks normal. Is this even possible ? Has anybody ever fixed a seal by simply pushing it back in?

I already ordered the other seals just curious.....

Post subject:  Re: grease inside housing being thrown by belt.

It might have went back in but, when you add grease iam sure it will just blow back out, once they blow to me they are junk.. I would not trust it,
