Anyone have this happen before? Was riding along and next thing I knew I saw my prop sinking to the bottom of the bayou about 10' behind the boat.

Hope you found the prop - it costs more than a shaft I bet....

Sure didn't find the prop. And it was a new one that I started using about halfway through duck season. I keep a spare prop but that didn't help me very much in this case.

Saw one broke off just like yours at a run - used pushpole to "feel" for it
and owner was able to get it back.... Hope you marked the spot....

I found it odd that it just fell off without hitting anything. Wasn't sure if this was a common problem or not. Motor has 102 hours FWIW.

Shaft likely fractured when you hit something and it just took a while
for the fracture to grow enough to shear away....

When seals go bad sometimes you will see a wear ring right where
shaft is broken off....

That has happened on every brand motor a time or two. You must have hit something hard at some point.

Put a call into GT, how old is the motor

Motor is about 2 years old. I'm not too worried about it, I figured that it happens every once in a while.

Call them. You'll likely have to pay for the shaft, but they may help you a little with the prop if you just bought it.

Yea I plan on giving them a call on Monday. They've always been great about helping me in the past.

i have a 2013/14 motor bought in jan 14 and broke a shaft around 80 hour mark. granted it was only about 7 months old but GT said they had few bad shafts and this was happening and replaced my shaft for free.
