BENT completely back after my last 20 mile boat pull! What the hay? I went to tilt it up today and that joker is laid smooth back. I had the motor ratcheted down so it wouldn't bump at all and now this. Guess I can put it in a vice and bend it back. This happen to anyone else? |

well when I take it off the hook the motor almost hits the ground. I'm not supposed to trim it all the way up each time I trailer am I? I got the trim set where it performs best and tightened it. |

I had the same thing happen to me on my pd 36 hook is useless. Solution: take off hook, throw in garbage, add heavy duty screw close chain link to existing fixed welded chain link that is welded onto steel rod , where hook was bolted insert heavy duty eye bolt in it's place with eye towards motor, snap on heavy duty steel carabina clip to added chain link, clip into heavy duty eye bolt. Problem solved forever! |

If all you do is trim it up when you are trailering and you have a cable winch to trim it up if you don't secure the motor the cable will break if you have a screw trim then it is not a problem but with the cable winch better make sure to secure it. |

I broke my winch cable once while trailering. on the way to prodrive and it happened on a mile away, and JP broke his. and we would trim it againt the reverse block. it can happen. Oh and my cable was only 6 months old with about 100 hrs on the motor when it broke. But I do live in Louisiana where the roads are horrible. |

why trim against da reverse block? just trim dat mofo up all da way until it won't trim no more. with da motor trimmed against da reverse block u still got all ur weight behind da pivot point. Everytime u hit a bump and it bounces... it's bouncing all dat weight. Trim it all da way up and you balance ur weight out above da pivot point... it still bounces just as much, but comes down against da cable with WAY less force. regardless, it ain't trailering that breaks the freakin cables people.... when dey get frayed dey just gonna break. It just depends on how bad u let it get before u change it and where it is when it takes that lick that it can't handle any more. I don't change mine till it breaks... it has broken 2 or 3 times goin down da road...... it has broken 10 or 12 times in da woods. Just cut da bad section off da cable and re-use it. I get 3 or 4 breaks out of a cable before I replace it. Wrap sum electrical tape around da first piece of good cable u can find near da break, find a good solid spot on ur boat to beat on (usually da transom corner), lay da cable right der and place a machete blade on ur taped area, use an old wore out prop as a hammer and give da back of da machete 2 or 3 good licks and bam... u got a new cable. snake dat mofo back where it belongs and tie a figure 8 knot in da end to keep it there (use sum pliers).... you are done in less than 5 minutes. DA has had sum pretty good success using synthetic winch rope on his trim... been meaning to try it also, but just never think about stopping and gettin sum. |

my cable wasnt frayed. but it doesnt matter now as I have the hydro reverse now. Ben you are right, I should have just trimmed it all the way up instead of using the reverse block. |
