Buddy of mine has a mudbuddy hd that started out a stock 35. He has headwork, bps rods/pistons, and a bps cam with gutted exhaust and stock carb. He swears up and down that his gearing is 38 top, 47 bottom and it was that way when he got it. His boat is a 1751 excel. He runs 26 without a thing in the boat but him @4600rpm and a hammer prop. I have no idea why his set up is so slow. Any ideas? Not any faster with the big blade. On the other hand he runs 22-23with 7 people in the boat i know he can change gears and gain speed but i dont understand why its so slow right now. I have 38/48 gears in my gtr and i walk off and leave him at lower rpm. |

His boat probably is 95% of the reason. |

I know its not the greatest. I was telling him it was probably his boat so they put it on a fairly new havoc, new enough to not have any hooks, and only picked up about 1.5mph. That havoc with a stage 1 gtr runs 32+ I just dont get it.. |

It hauls that kind of load, with a hammer, and began a stock HD with no gear changes in btwn. Something tells me that's not the gear that's in the bottom. Light load with the hammer with those mods should be closer to 30. That's a 45 mag, effectively, after the mods. So combine that boat with a 50 tooth bottom, and that would be about right on speeds. Put a 47 tooth in there and the prop will turn faster, and the boat will move faster, but probably won't quite carry that load at 22. |

Thats exactly what i thought but he said he's counted the teeth. He's looking at putting the 40 tooth top on it but im nit sure if thats gonna be enough to keep him off the rev limiter. |
