I called PD the other day about getting some replacement seals for my lower unit. I simply figured they were bad due to having pump my grease gun 6 to 7 times before the grease begins to come out near the prop. PD said the seals were fine???? What do ya'll think???? Second has anyone changed these seals before, and if so do you have a part number????

I don't have a part number but have seen the seals. They wouldn't be too hard to change. Your situation sounds normal. 6-7 squirts isn't that much grease considering the amount that the housing will hold. I wouldn't worry about it

What year and how many hours? Sounds normal, though.

Prop seals - Sierra pn18-2051

Depending on which model you have , it will either have 2 or 3 seals. I had the older nut with 2 seals. I turned it in and they replaced it with the 3 seal nut. Also if you have an oil or grease lower, the seal orientation is different.

I replaced the oil lower with the grease unit in 2010 or 11. I have probably 100 hours on them, but i run in a lot of sandy bottoms. Thanks for all the help!!
