 GTR- prop tests
I have been testing props for the past few months and here are my findings.
Boat: 1848 Prodigy Motor: 35 GTR with stock carb, gutted stock muffler, decked heads, port and pollish intake.
Props: GTR 3 blade 11p, GTR old style worn to 11 3/8", New style 2 blade GTR 10p, Big Blade 10p
GTR 3 blade: Top speed 24- loaded (750 llbs) 20-21. Terrible hole shot. Reverse was poor. GTR old style worn: Top speed 25. loaded 22. Hole shot vastly improved. Reverse was much better. New Style GTR: Top speed 26.7 Loaded 24.5 Hole shot was the fastest with this prop as was the reverse. MB Big Blade: Top Speed 24. with load 19.5. Hole shot was terrible. Reverse was about the same as the GTR 2 blade.
I hope this helps some of you looking at props. It seems that there are reviews all over the board, but the new style GT prop did the best on my boat.

 Re: GTR- prop tests
Id disagree with this whole thing but different boat/motor.
3 blade vs bb same top speed but holeshot was better with 3 blade. Reverse was strong with bb sucked with 3 blade.
Old pt props are fast, yours was worn over half an inch. Not realy worth noting. One in good condition should run the faster of all the props mentioned.
Not much on the gt new 2 blade but i found it had better holeshot than bb but less top end.
Bb was the best overall for me, just added a hair of cup to help on the holeshot.

 Re: GTR- prop tests
Damn,,,odd results for sure.
I ran all of those props you mentioned and then some on three different boats. Only thing in common with any of the results I had was the fact the new GT 2 blade had a bad ass holeshot. Almost as if gearing down engine compared to the others.
With that said, It was the slowest out of all of them.
GTR Power tech, GTR "New 2 Blade", Big Blade, and 3 different 3 blades..

 Re: GTR- prop tests
I'm assuming all these speeds are with 750 pounds in your boat?

 Re: GTR- prop tests
Its odd that everyone seems to have different results and frustrating that you have to buy so many props to figure out which one works best.
The only prop i would like to try now is a 10p 3 blade. Ill trade for a big blade if anyone is interested.

 Re: GTR- prop tests
I have tried the 11p 3 blade and it was to much for my boat and motor.

 Re: GTR- prop tests
I'll through in my recent experience, since I just bought a spare prop and I got the Mud Buddy BB.
1854 CC with stock 37 efi GTR - my boat has quite a bit of decking and storage so its a little on the heavy side. The load was the same with both of these- Me, my dog, fishing load and ~10 gallons of gas.
Stock 3 blade GT (stamped 49 on the blades) - avg top 27.5 - hole shot was decent - reverse sucked BB - avg top 26.2 - hole shot was a little better - and reverse was pretty decent
I'll be curious to see how they perform with a heavy load.

 Re: GTR- prop tests
I had a ton of work done on my new GTR 3 blade. I went from @29 mph to 33.8mph (solo speed with cooler and 9 gallons in deepwater). I had my old powertech 2 blade reworked and had stellite attend to the edges/tips. It got 33.4 (2 people, 2 coolers, 9 gallons of gas in deep water).
Mr. Ray at Precision Propeller in Lake Charles did the work.

 Re: GTR- prop tests
I just bought a GTR 37 efi with the stock 3 blade and put it on my 16/52 alweld. My buddy has the same haul with a GTR 35 and he out runs me. He has a stock 2 blade that is worn down a little. Both motors are stock . I don't want to do any engine work. Any advise on what prop I should buy to get mine to perform better ?

 Re: GTR- prop tests
Just send your stock prop off a day have it balanced and Polished. Talk to the prop builder about pitch. They can optimize the prop performance to match the specs of your motor.

 Re: GTR- prop tests
The 2 blade was down to about 11.25 inches. He built it up, added stellite to the leading edges, pitched it.
3 blade got polished and repitched.

 Re: GTR- prop tests
just got a 10p 3 blade and its about 1 mph slower than my 2 blade. Hole shot was decent. Tiller torque was less with the 3 blade.
