If it is indeed closed loop, I'd like to get some info on it. |

This is what I gather from the short video. Pros: Really do like the concept. Outboard engine rather than a f'n lawnmower engine. No clutch to burn up, actual FNR transmission or gears. Probably using an outboard prop, thus the crazy acceleration. Quiet. Cons: Not crazy about that mass of wires and hoses dangling about to get snagged on every tree that you pass. Where is the closed loop cooling system? How will it hold up to very shallow water or no water? He didn't run in any very shallow water. Hell my old Merc 40 could have done what he did. All in all it does look very promising. As far as mud situations and low wate levels, it may require a different prop. But that would be the sweet thing. For long trips have an open water prop and when you hit the shallows, swap it out. |

Would probably be great down here on a tunnel hull with a skeg running the length of the tunnel to push the grass down. Kinda the same principle as the Ultra Jack jackplate. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |

Think about it. This entire surface drive craze started with a few different designs and now everyone has their own idea of how to make them a little better. How about taking what they have an couple a 60, 75 or even a 90 hp block on it that will weigh less than the 35-37 lawnmower blocks we have now. Pretty sweet. |

Id buy one if the price was reasonable. I don't really need to go through straight mud. You learn what your rig could handle and use it for that. Those stump hits look pretty brutal with the weight back like it is. I wonder how the gears hold up after all that abuse. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using Tapatalk |

A lot of potential there. Yeah, it may need a different prop to run 100% mud. But there's plenty of places that motor would work as is. I'm thinking about weed-choked reservoirs and flooded timber bottoms. |

Very interesting wonder what it weighs if it's lighter than the current 35 motors and priced right things could get good, it would be very nice to have a quiet motor for being able to sneak around in the swamp |

Got some info on it. The closed loop system uses a radiator which doubles as a seat. The "box" as I was told measures 15" x 15" x 18". Which is almost the same size as my side seat. Now given those dimensions: 15x15x18 = 4050 cubic inches = 17.5 gallons If water is used, a gallon of water is 8.345 lbs If antifreeze is used, an un diluted gallon of 100% antifreeze is 9.33 lbs So say 50/50 which most use and split the difference at 9 lbs. That "box" will weigh 157.5 lbs PLUS the hoses that is used so just say 158 lbs. that's a lot of weight, but if the horsepower can account for it, then they may be on to something. |

I would probably be willing to give a 90 a try on my 18x54 cc if they made one in the 10-12k range. I don't think a 60 would perform much better than a modded GTR. I also wonder who is building their power plant? What do y'all think? |

Very true...but a Gatortail is what I would consider to be a proven setup. I don't know if I'd be on board for 10.5k to guinea pig a motor. That said...whether its a surface drive, outboard, airboat or whatever a boat is just a hole in the water you throw your money into. |

It's a mercury cowling, down to the logo on the front of it. Probably a licensing deal that they've worked out and why the cooler is the size it is. |

I'd imagine there is a fan and other things inside the cooler not just a square box with water in it. |

My gut is telling me that if mercury wasn't involved in this deal, if so they would be branding it, not allowing someone else to use there equipment in a manner other than it's intended use/ modifying there design..... LAWSUIT..Look at boss, its my understanding that they "Mercury" designed that system.. those are some big fellas, you don't poke at them. I think this guy would be better off designing a system that removes the outboard lower unit, and you would install a system he designed to act like a surface drive, on an outboard that WE the consumer would already own... he is just buying a damn 40, removing the merc stickers, slapping his goofy ass stuff on the mercuy lower, and reselling it as a freedom.. LMFAO ![]() This has bad written all over it.. Just my $.02... but hey, I've been told that I am an educated idiot lol |
