 23 SD stuck prop
Know this is a pretty common problem i feel like ive literally tried everything short of getting a little too cocky with an angle grinder and cutting slits in the prop and trying to break the SOB off. Pretty confident that will end up in something getting torn up.
Does anyone have any other handy ideas or tips other than what ive got going? I mean its stuck and ive almost stripped the hex nut behind the prop. Ive torched the prop pretty good, using the 2x4 to help with leverage. This is my first SD prop to switch. My long tail would be a pain sometimes but I always could get leverage and muscle it off by wedging something in the U joint to keep the shaft from turning. Alot of it is leverage. Every time I feel like I have a good handle on it the crescent wrench on the nut just pops off or turns and strips the nut more and more.
Its a 3/4" threaded shaft. It screws off to the left if your looking at the back of the boat, no reverse threads. Copperhead.

 Re: 23 SD stuck prop
I mean I gave it hell with the rubber hammer and was cranking on it has hard as I could in the right direction with the pipe wrench it wouldnt buge.
I cut two slits on each side of the prop, most of the way through, or as far through as I could get without hitting the threads on the shaft, torched it then it screwed right off.

 Re: 23 SD stuck prop
Please take that pipe wrench off the blades!!! I don't care how stuck it is, this always works, always. I have actually lifted my boat off the trailer before trying to get mine off. Get a piece of 1.5" x 1/4" steel flat bar, about 3'-4' long. About 6" from one end, drill a hole big enough so that the prop shaft will pass through it. Now slide the flat bar over the prop shaft and until it bottoms out. The flat bar should "grab" or touch on the meaty base part of the prop. Grunt like hell and it should come free. Its like having a 4' cheater bar to remove. DO NOT HIT THE BLADES WITH A HAMMER if you like you prop. Hitting the blades toward the end will put undo stress on the base of the blased and you will have issues later on. Once you get the prop off, never seize the hell out of it so it will come off easier next time.

 Re: 23 SD stuck prop
I had to heat the prop on my Godevil surface drive to remove it. Someone forgot to use anti seize. Replaced the seals too
