Has anyone done any research as to a different supplier for the lower unit (prop end) seals. Seems like $150 for a couple of seals is a bit steep. I had to order some and when they get here I'll be doing some checking through my parts planner at the plant to see if he can find a replacement out there for substantially less. I figure someone else has gone this route and I'm not finding it in the search mode. |

Find a single lip seal that's 1.125 id. 1.5 od and a width of .190 or a double lip seal that 1.125 I'd 1.5 od .25 width for the rear seal at the prop and I'm sure you have the other part numbers. Any local industrial supplier of bearings should have or be able to get everything at a reasonable cost. If you need a part number on anything let me know |

Just keep pumping with the purge screw in, when you see grease, it's busted. Install new seals and repeat!! |

Mine pushes out water every time I re grease it, the water is always clear. Has done this since new. I may bump my interval to every 10 hours on the lower one. Also I'm not sure where the grease is going, takes a few pumps to get grease to come out so I know its losing it, just don't know if it's losing it to the inside or outside...I don't ever see grease coming out on the prop, so I'm guessing to the inside... |

The seals are designed to push excess out the back if installed correctly. as grease gets hot it expands and will expel a small amount each time of use. As it cools the water can be pulled into the shaft housing. Keep up with maintenance, is all you can do and replace the seals and wear sleeve at the time you wish. |
