I have a 4400 BD looking into the raptor or the 3 blade. What are performance advantages over a 2 blade or hammer?

Really need to know what your pushing with it, and load in it. Also RPM and gearing.

1854 prodigy, 2 guys decoys etc also fish out of the boat and mostly go by myself. As far as gearing i have no clue the motor is just a stock 4400 black death with reverse. I am turning 4200 rpm's at wot.

As of right now I have a standard 12x10 big blade.

Gear ratio should be stamped in to motor base on right side of motor under oil filter. At 4200 WOT I don't think A Hammer could be run. It would probably put you under 4000RPM. You might be able to turn the Mercury 12x10 three blade, may not help speed any but it would run a lot smoother.

EFI or carb BLack Death?

my 35gtr (heads, carb, and BPS Q) turns a hammer 4400-4500+ depending on trim and load. My Uncle J ain't no light boat either.

Thanks for the help I will check the gear ratio and post it, I think i should be getting higher rpms out of the motor. I havent touched any carb settings since I bought the boat so i don't know why I'm only getting 4200. Have y'all heard anything about the raptor prop?

The raptor is a good all around 3 blade prop.

It's biggest advantage is balance. it will run much smoother than any 2 blade, and potentially save you from vibration issues. They typically run around 1 mph faster than a big blade, but lose a bit of hole shot, and mud performance.

It is a much better all around prop than the Merc 3 blade.
