the belt on my motor broke clean in half the other day, so I guess i get to replace a belt. Looking at this thing it seems the only way to get the new belt on is to unbolt the lower unit so that the belt can slide over the sprocket (or gear or whatever its called). Is there a trick to get the belt on without having to undo the lower unit? Maybe a trick of the trade I am missing? |

From what Hoyt was saying on Saturday after they removed GatorPoint's lower unit in like 2 min it was fairly easy to slide lower unit in and onto belt one man job Hoyt said... Call them up. |

Just undo the 9 bolts thats 'round that spindle thang .... take it off ... loosen the 4 engine bolts so you git alittle slack ... take one bolt off the braken mechinizam fo the reverse so you can put new belt past it .... drop belt thru the belt house and at the bottom tie a strang to it so with one hand you can pull it down to git the sprocket started at the bottom. Once you git it on .... re-install all the above and then goes and HangTiddy !!! ![]() The whole job takes one beer and 'bout 15 minutes .... Hope this helps !!!! |
