Its roughly $50 / night and I can probably get a good group rate if we block 10 + rooms.

Let me know if you'd be interested in coming this way this SUMMER before we get the ball rolling. I was thinking mid July. Before the LA Mud Run (July 31st - August 1, 2010)... If we start getting too close to August & September, we hit peak hurricane season... I'm open for any suggestions on dates.

I think I could make the long ass drive from Groves....but it will be worth it

not to be a smartass (i promise) but why dont yall just set a date with all the details (where to meet, put in, lodging, etc.) and post it up and just have the event.

Seems to me when yall discuss plans and such on a thread people get tired of scrolling through all the planning details and just want to hear about the event.

We have a ride for March, June and July seems like we need to get rides in April and May. Hell that is a good time to be out in Wallisville early doing some fishing before the ride.

April 10 is opening ceremonies for our little league, and my kids' birthday party that afternoon. April 17 and I'm there.

I've pretty much set the date at April 17, 2010.

There is something going on the weekend of the 10th which no hotels / motels had any vacancy.

So I have several calls into motels asking about group rates discounts etc. I'll make one big post with dates, numbers, maps etc.

Anyone wanting to fish Saturday AM, Sunday AM etc... I'll meet you all out there at the ramp bright & early.

I'm going to make waterproof maps for everyone so incase you do get turned around you'll be able to find your way back should you get separated from the group.

those talkin bout fishin i gots a question for ya, is this saltwater, freshwater, or brackish water that yall gonna be fishin in? i need to know whether or not to bring my equipment for some reds and trout or the bass rods

Area has very few (almost no) bass with a few hybrids
being caught around the rocks at the locks....

Bring your saltwater fishing gear --- miles and miles of good
trout wade fishing --- reds tailing in shallows --- best night
fishing between dark and 2 AM at the power company outfalls
with best catches on fresh shrimp or mud minners....

April 17th sounds great. You know there is a hotel at the Hankamer exit Highway 61 on the feeded that is 15 minutes away at the most. The gator motel is in Anahuac and there also is an RV park next to Fort Anahuac. I will personally be launching at Fort Anahuac and staying out at our camp on the river.
