 1548 Beavertail 35hp BTSD
1548 Beavertail boat with a 35hp Beavertail surface drive. Me 215lbs a buddy 175lbs, full 6 gallon gas tank, deep cycle battery, and a beavertail blind and all hunting gear in shallow water (6-8" deep)were getting about 25-26 mph. By myself I'm bumping about 27-28 mph without my buddy but all the other crap. The motor is bone stock other than tweaking the rpm's to about 3900 under load.

Yeah I'd like to see some pics too. That's a pretty good chunk of motor on that boat.

 Re: 1548 Beavertail 35hp BTSD
nice rig, thought you would be a lil faster though. I have a 1546 all-welded with a 24hp sd and i run 23 with me and another guy in my rig. Glad to see the sd with pods on a 48 wide boat, as i have been thinking about adding pods on my boat because of all the weight i have in the back with that heavy motor and because i have a short transom so they would help stop taking wake over the transom when i get off the gas fast. I was wondering how that would work with a 46 wide and a sd.

Very nice rig! That's good speed with that heavy load! What are you hitting with just yourself in the boat? Perhaps I missed that figure

WI Waterfowl If you go with small size pods you should be good to go. The mediums might cut down on your turning radius too much. West end Speeds by myself I'm hitting 27-28mph. Tim
