I have ran the little motor on my old riveted 1440. I don't have any speed numbers because that doesn't really concern me. This boat and motor will be left at my lease during duck season. It'll be used to haul guys and gear to the blind which is only like 3/4 of a mile through flooded green timber and we'll use it to make cripple runs. And I think it'll be absolutely perfect for it. The glider kit is extremely high quality. This is a solid built kit with very high quality parts and materials. This kit uses the same bearing system that is used in the bigger motors, same Revo Clean system, same Surface Tracer cavitation plate, etc. Plus I can't stress enough how simple this kit is to put together. Just go to backwaterinc.com and watch the assembly video they've put together and you're set.

I'm not gonna sit here and tell you this little glider kit is as tough as the bigger motors that Back Water builds. But then again it's not designed to be. I will tell you that if you have a smaller Jon boat that is used for short runs, or if you use a little layout boat or pirogue for short to medium runs, this is a fantastic, inexpensive option available to you. If you use a 6.5 Predator, you can have a very reliable longtail for your small boat and after shipping and all, you should be under $1,200. This kit is more expensive than the Thai kits, but you have to look at what you're getting; shorter, more manageable length, bearing versus plastic bushings, stainless prop, much stouter build materials, and IMO the best customer service in the game.

If you've for any more specific questions, let me know! And as always, if you wanna try one of these motors out and you're in my area, give me a shout.

Hey, Frank, I assume you've put enough hours in the 35 HP to possibly think about tweaking the throttle advance. Just wondering what increases you may have gained? How would you rate the driving difference between the 23 versus the 35?

I haven't touched the throttle an I don't know that I will. The motor is doing awesome and I'll probably just leave it be. I've not put a GPS to it since the first weekend I ran it. As far as driving it, once you're on plane, the 23 and 35 handle the same. As far as slow speed stuff like turning around in the middle of a channel, you can tell a little difference but it's nothing insane and it's not like the motor is beating you while you drive it.

I GPS'd the rig today for only the second time. Light load, deep water, the motor ran a very solid 25 mph and was consistently bumping 26 mph. Still loving this motor.

I tweaked my throttle on my 35ss it helped alot. Got some more rpm and made it more comfortable. Instead of holding it down with your thumb I adjusted mine to where WOT was Strait inline with handle so all you had to do was hold handle and you were running WOT
