We got to run the 1236 Prowler sneak boat with past weekend with the 12hp Copperhead on back. It was to much motor for one man, at 25-26mph the boat started hydroplaning and all that was in the water was the prop!!! Needed about 100 pounds more weight in the front.

With two men, Bubba (185) and another (220) the boat ran 23.9 with the current and 19.8 against the current, average speed 22 mph!!! In this little boat that was moving!!! We have no shallow water right now with the river still very high, so we could not get shallow water speeds, but I am guessing it will hit 24-25 in the shallows based on what we saw in deep water.

We will be building a 14 and 16' in the next few weeks (waiting on more sheets), we think the longer boat will be a better match with the 12 hp motor.

This is a cool little rig, so far everyone who has seen it and ridden in one has been amazed at the speeds, handling and safety of these sneak boats.

They wil be in full product by the end of the month and we are taking orders for November.

25-26mph? Guess I should have waited to get a 12hp instead.

Just got back from video and testing on a small local pond with the 1236 and 12hp Cooperhead motor. This is a small pond, maybe 6 acres for so with one long stretch of maybe 300 yrds of deep water and a shorter stretch of about 75-100 yrds of shallow water.

With one man and an extra 70 lbs in the nose it ran 26.6 mph deep water before I ran out of room and had to let off. In the shallow stretch she ran 26 mph and still climbing but I never made it to top speed, just not enough realestate to hit top speed. With two men and the 70 lbs in the nose we again ran a consistant 20-22 mph on the deep stretches and 24 mph in shallow before we had to let off the trottle to turn back into the ditch.

We stopped in the shallow stuff, maybe 1-2" of water and took right off again with little effort.

Overall the boat and motor performed great in this situation. Better yet, we just backed the trailer down to the edge of the water, slide the boat in and pulled it right back on the trailer with one guy when we were done.

These little motors are gettin like 2 mph per hp unloaded! A 35 copperhead would be in the 60 + mph range!

I have a 10hp and love the performance.

I have had trouble with my starter from day one. It was draining the battery because it was missing a part and it was not installed properly. I ended up having to pay 80 bucks for a part and labor to fix the problem. I figured that was a part that would come with the motor, but it wasn't and it was not covered under the warranty. It is now back in the shop b/c the starter is not engaging every time. I was only able to use the motor during teal season. It has been in and out of shops for 6 weeks and is currently still getting fixed.

I love the motor and hope that I wont have any more problems after I get passed this starter. They preform very well.

Graceoutdoors, what model boat do you have your 10hp on?

14 X 36.... it performs awesome with 1 person, good with 2. With three people and gear it wont plain off and moves at about 7mph i would guess.

Thanks, I have a 1236, I was gonna get the 6.5hp, but I think I might just go for the 12hp. It probably does'nt weigh much more than the 6.5hp model, and the extra power is always handy.
