Hey y'all, I am about to pull the trigger on the above mentioned motor. I already have the jon and have been running it on a 55 thrust minkota for one season. Only mods to the jon is a avery quick set blind and mossy oak shadow grass spray job, no seats other than the two benches and deck etc.

I already spoke with Gil at Copperhead and he was very helpful and well versed on his product. Also when comparing all the companies I was interested in he was the only one that made feel confident in his customer service (spoke with beavertail, mud buddy and a dealer for pro drive).

As I already said I am almost ready to do this but I figured I had better stop in here and see if any of you might have your own insight on this motor and more specifically this combination.
Also I have a question about how this motor mounts to the transom, I looked at all the pics on the websight and I can clearly make out how its done.

Thanks in advance

Well, purchase complete. Should be here in a week or two. Again I must say how impressed I am with Gil and crew. He didn't have the barebones twelve I wanted, so he is sending me a electric start equipped model at the same price. Awesome customer service.

Thanks for the reply, its good to hear that. Another guy I hunted with had been making me doubt my decision, but that is reassuring. He's one of those guys that if it's not an "industry leader" he isnt going for it.

As far as my boat it is a 1542 alumacraft riveted jon. It weighs 220 unloaded and will be primarly used by myself and my lab. It will have about a total weight of 600 somthing pounds with all gear. So I am sure it will be more than enough speed to get me in on a spot before the other guy.

I ordered a 12 hp Copperhead to put on my 1442 G3 a little over 2 weeks ago. Still waiting for it. Was told it was in stock and only had to be camo-ed when ordered. Anyone received delivery one one recently? Paid in full still not motor.

I'd call them. But they did tell me one to two weeks for it to arrive by freight truck and I'm in Texas so if yours needed some work and if you possibly live further away it could be longer.

I too live in the ft hood area , if u dont mind if I ask what u spent for the motor shipped and all. Total price with all features u added. I want electric start & camo . What is your transom 15 or 20" ? Also if you turn the motor prop inward towards the boat how long is it then sticking out ? Want to know for storage length in my garage. Thanks and post some more pics and speeds. Congrats.....

It was 3060 shipped to my house in Killeen. The add-ons I have are camo and remote fuel which Gil didn't charge me for because he didn't have the basic model available. My transom is 15 in and the tail end at full trim sticks out about a foot and a half when turned over the side. As far as speed I won't know till probably sunday because tomorrow is opening day on turkey. But I'll post it when I get out there.

Took her out this afternoon for the first time. Took a couple of runs up and down the river to get the trim right but once I was set that thing flew. I need a gps so I can get good numbers and I won't attempt to speculate on the speed but I was blown away what that little twelve was capable of.

diceman you sure got that one wrong. Was told that the elec start, remote fuel, camo motor I ordered was in stock and only had to be painted. You need to get your stories staight before you post. Spoke with Gil today and he just finished loading it on the truck. Gil said my motor would have been delivered much sooner but manufacturer sent manual start motors instead of electic model. BTY motor was not ordered directly from Gil, he has been very helpful and seems to take pride in his service which I am told is normally very good.

a friend of mine has a 10hp and its a cool little motor EXCEPT the way the shaft housing is built. if you running hard bottom dont hit it, it will make that seal go out on the back and shaft will wobble like a mofo. other than that theyre cool.

well I got my new 12 hp Copperhead about a week and a half ago and it runs great. Gil from Copperhead was very helpful in getting me started. Put it on my 1442 G3 with me and a buddy both weigh about 230+ lbs. Ran her up just for a short period of time due to being a new motor. In deep water with a light chop she did 17 mph by my Garmin GPS. Just learning how to set the prop depth so I think she will improve with time, but still seems plenty good. I am happy camper. I now understand how some of you guys say you can destroy a boat with one of these motors. I am sure this motor could push my boat through stuf that would tear it up. its got terrific thrust.

Do they make a tall transom 20" ? I wish they would have a update to the website every once in a while on future models
