Well, the motors are going to weigh the same. I say go for the 45. You can never have enough HP

My old boat was a 1650 xpress mod-v which is pretty similar to a war eagle and i had a stock 35 on it. It ran ok with 3 ppl in it. The mod-v ribbed bottom boats are just not made for a mudmotor. Id get the most horsepower you can afford. Like uncle-j said, you can never have to much

There is no meaningful comparison...the BD 4500 will run circles around the stock 35...

Get the BD 4500. You will kick yourself if you get the 35. The 35 is a great motor but pay the extra the first time.

Just keep in mind, we're comparing apples & oranges here. The BD 4500 is a CDI motor and is limited to 4300 rpm by the coils. The stock 35 you can get either CDI or non-CDI. If money isn't an issue, you should go for a 45 Mag. It's true 45 hp motor & can still be modded to get more out of it. If you plan to just buy the motor, slap it on the boat, and never mod it at all, then go for the BD 4500. You can run any of them on that hull, as they all weigh the same, since they're the same block & same frame. If you have any questions, feel free to pm me & I'll help you all I can.

I do agree with camo. I dont know a whole lot when it comes to moding motors. I just wanted a motor that was already built up a little with performance parts because I didnt want to do it myself. I prob could have saved a little by doing it myself but I havent got the courage yet to try and ripp open a $5500 lawn mower engine to make it go faster. Thats way I got the BD is only about $900 more than the 35.
