Intersting transom design. Looks like transom ends almost in a point? Must just be the camera perspective or is this something new?

The missing rib is due to it being on Back Order. We received on Friday. These pictures were sent to customer just so that he could see progress.
Transom is not completed yet. It will have a different design than others.

Dude, either way you go, you better get that order in NOW!!!! Both of em are backed up right now, unless you go thru a MB dealer that happens to have one in stock. Seems like everyone that's gotten a new motor lately has had to wait 6 wks or better.

You can do everyting to a 35 on a GTR frame you can do to a 35 on a MB frame.

Does GT have any kind of mod warranty like MB?

very nice...just curious what is the reasoning/benefit to that transom design?

Author:  Team Camo [ Thu Jul 14, 2011 10:16 am ]
Post subject:  Re: 18x54 Uncle J Flats Boat

That's the same transom I have. While it's not a true "hunt deck" it does help to keep alot of the water out of the boat, & it also helps fat azzes like me get back into the boat. Plus, is a great place to stand & take a piss.

Post subject:  Re: 18x54 Uncle J Flats Boat

I think the boxes weight about 20lbs each if I'm not mistaken, since its only 2 sides of the box, as the boat makes the other 2 sides, but I might be wrong.

I painted the boat gator tail brown to match the gator tail factory color. Did a lot of reading on here and other places to figure it all out as I'm no pro painter. Ended up doing this:

1. Clean the boat with degreaser. Rinse good.
2. Sprayed about 1/3 diluted Alumabrite (got it from a trailer supply store) out of a bug sprayer. Let sit for 20 minutes. Rinse good with pressure washer.
3. Couldn't find zinc chromate primer in liquid form, but used "self etching primer" in a spray can by duplicolor, got it from Napa, model dap1690. Took 7 cans to do the whole boat except the bottom. Put it on kinda lite, coulda prob done lighter but was careful not to do it too thick.
4. Didn't want to, but had to wait 5 days to topcoat. Used an HLVP sprayer. Used Kem400 made by sherwin williams. Dilluted 10% with xylol, the recomended thinner, and sprayed at about 30psi. 1 coat took 20 minutes. Let sit dry for 30 minutes, did another coat. Looks great, I guess we'll see if it hold up.

Pic of the finished topcoat below. Gonna flip the boat and put on steelflex this week. Motors ready THURSDAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Job with Paint !!!

Only thing you should do different in future is, spray Alum. bright straight. Don't mix with water.

UncleJ, I was gonna but pussed out after reading the label and started second guessing my memory of what others said they had done. I mixed about 5 times stronger than the warning label said not to. Next time I wont dilute it at all.

How wide are those boxes, cool design, and congrats to you and uncleJ!!

Author:  dgalmo [ Thu Jul 21, 2011 9:50 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: 18x54 Uncle J Flats Boat

The boxes are about 9 inches in the front, and 12 inches in the back. The majority of the box is utilizing the extra space created by the flared sides so not really a lot of floor space lost. And with the extra storage on the sides, no need for any boxes in the middle of the floor. Cant wait to see if it floats tomorrow. New 35GTR is on!

Good looking rig.

I like your trailer tail lights. Where did you get them? Such a clean install, you can't even see them. That would suck to have your new 18' boat turned into a 16', if someone rear-ended you. But to each is own.

Pleas enter boat data below.FYI your bow is not pointed but square category. The pointed category is for crawfish skiff or battleship type bows.
