 Prodrive info?
This is for anyone who has a PD on a 16x48 hull. I am looking to see who has a 27hp or 36hp on this type hull. Looking for pros and cons on both size motors. Yes it would be easier just to go to PD and see if they will let me test drive them but I am looking for other peoples views. Also, moved to Lafayette few months ago who on here is from LAF??

 Re: Prodrive info?
I had a 1648 pd hull with a 27 on it. It was a great lil rig for a 2 man hunting load, 3 man light load. We hunted 3 out of it plenty of times, but it did not like being loaded down like that. If going with the 36, I would def try to get a tall transom and if at all possible another 2 feet longer on the boat.

 Re: Prodrive info?
Well reason I'm asking is because last year I bought a gdsd hull, and currently have a long tail for the time being until I can get a sd. So I am keeping the boat just needed some views on the motor options.

 Re: Prodrive info?
Get the 36. You can always throttle back if needed.

 Re: Prodrive info?
I have a 1648. It HAD a 27hp prodrive on it. (key word "HAD"). The performance SUCKED. I sold it and got a 36PD and couldn't be happier. About the only thing I would say good about a 27 on a boat of that size is the fuel economy. Save yourself from learning a lesson the hard (and expensive) way and get the 36.

27 will work fine on that hull as long as the bottom isn't beat up too bad. With that being said, definitely go with a tall transom 36 if you can swing it. I you're worried about it, a 36 is not too much motor for the boat.

 Re: Prodrive info?
I had a 25 0n a 15 ft. Went to a 36 last yr on a 18 foot and couldnt be happier. Go with the 36 and save yourself wasted time and money cuz you wont be happy with the smaller motor.

 Re: Prodrive info?
Hello
I run a 36 prodrive (over 180 hours) on a 16x 48 alweld, wish I had more power. Never enough power and don't ever throttle back. Set the tank in the front and get the tall transom or water will come in the boat when you slow down.
