12lct to 14 kohler copperhead

 12lct to 14 kohler copperhead I have the 12 lct copperhead with around 200 + hous on it ... I thought I would up grade to the 14 kohler and did buy and install it .. So here's how they compare .. The 12 runs 20 mph on my rig and jumps right on plane ... So I was expecting at least that out of the kohler 14 ... The 14 I'm getting 18 mph and a little sluggish coming out of hole .. I've only got 1 1/2 hours on it . I got a mini tach on the 14 and it running 4000 in water ... The kohler is a little smoother and quiter but the 12 lct will run circles around the kohler !!! Yea I'm disappointed !! I want to get the Briggs but no elect. Start available yet ... Those lct run ! May put it back on ...

Start troubleshooting.

Re: 12lct to 14 kohler copperhead Sell both of them. Buy a 23 Briggs copperhead. The 23 engine weighs 85 lbs. the 14 kohler engine weighs 85 lbs.

Re: 12lct to 14 kohler copperhead I didn't have a tach on the 12 ... I'm thinking I'm gettin all I can out of the kohler gonna keep tinkering with it ... Gettin 4300 out of water and 39 to 4000 in water ... Gonna move spring out and see if I can get more ...

Re: 12lct to 14 kohler copperhead I spoke with the guys at Illowa Marine and they had 12's and 14's in stock and they actually suggested getting the 12lct because they said it was faster and tuned better for the setup than the 14 Kohler.
