A few months late on the review: 19'7x46 Uncle J skiff 3/16 bottom and sides 24" sides, 5" catwalks, sealed double bottom, 16 gal gas tank Jason and crew came through perfect on this skiff. I didn't want a skiff with lots of flare and rake, instead, I wanted a rig for busting through water lillies and getting in tight woods. Jason built the skiff exactly how I wanted it, and it does exactly what I want - a perfect example of a custom build. J and crew did a great job minimizing the foot print of the front deck and fuel tank. The skiff is 19'7" and has 17' of open floor space. In only 2'7" they were able to fit a 16 gal tank, and a storage box that I can fit a lifejacket, hardhat light and safety equipment. The boat is super tough and extremely rigid. I only used it for the last couple weeks of crawfish season, but in that time I hopped plenty of logs and sideswiped a tree @ 3/4 throttle, with no flex or damage. The sealed double bottom and 1 1/2" drain plugs make keeping it clean a breeze. The bait box/flip down table that Heath built works great also. The boat gets on step quick and carries a load extremely well. I GPSd first time I took it out. 1 person, w/ full tank it ran a steady 27-29 with a stg1 GTR. Never GPSd with a load but it carries a load well. Thanks again Jason and crew. I look forward to trying to destroy it next season. |

Are the cross braces touching the bottom of the hull? It looks like there's a very small gap, but hard to tell from the pic... |

I'm a fan of running the 1x2s flat, long ways. And then 3" I beams cross ways on 12-14" centers. Makes more a strong skiff. |

That really is a nice looking skiff. The lines are very graceful. Nonc J look at the way my gunnel blends into the transom in this photo. Just a little design aesthetic you might consider. Incorporating a similar pattern at the gunnel deck transition is pretty neat looking to. |
