 17x46 Uncle J Review
MM Brand: Gator-Tail Horsepower: 35 GTR Boat Brand: Uncle J Boat Size: 17x46 w/ 20" sides & 15" hunt deck Boat Layout: wide open
Speeds | Shallow Water: 30 mph - Load: Myself (205#), 8 gallons fuel Speeds | Deep Water: 27 mph - Load: Myself and buddy (205# & 170#), trolling motor, fuel, extra battery
Added: Blue Sea Systems 4 switch/fuse panel 55 Minn kota Edge hand control quick release trolling motor mount Gator-Tail Light Housing Pair of D2 Dually Rigids
I have waited on posting a review to really get a feel for the boat. Uncle J builds a fine rig and strong as hell. 3/16" bottom with 1/8" sides... Hit stumps running, idling, forward, reverse, sliding and the boat doesn't have a blemish. The lights will make day light in the darkness. I ran the wires through the hull using a Blue Sea Systems Cable Clam, it works great and a tight seal. The trolling motor is great for what I do, but I wouldn't mind having a little more power... The GTR has been running strong since day 1. After an oil change and about 50 hours, the motor is only getting faster.
I know I am leaving a few things out, so let me know if you have any questions.

OReal nice rig. I really like the boat. If you dont mind me asking- about how much does a boat like that usually run a fella?

 Re: 17x46 Uncle J Review
Give Jason a call and he can give you a good idea on price for a similar rig. I can tell you that it usually turns out less than a manufactured boat with the same features, and it is exactly how you want it.

 Re: 17x46 Uncle J Review
Looks great..... my next boat wont have the gun box hatches..... but a shelf under deck to slide the guns into....I will also not mount my winch but use it on a plate to slide into reciever hitch...that way I could also mount a trolling motor or light bar..... ill prolly have 3 recievers across the front for whatever options I add....even a pointy bumper I could insert for hunting timber.... I think the versatility would be awesome to have. I will also use spud pole holes around the boat..... id like to make a semi permenant blind using the spud holes instead of hinges. Ive got lots of new ideas..... my boat will be up for sale whenever I can put a little money back to start a new one...... not that I need a new one but I got the design bug.....

 Re: 17x46 Uncle J Review
Make it look like a pre runner bumper... make it out of pipe. It would be removable attaching to 2 outside recievers still allowing for lights or winch in middle reciever...

 Re: 17x46 Uncle J Review
Yep and extended in front of bow means no shadow. You dont have to mount lights higher to get past bow.

 Re: 17x46 Uncle J Review
Speed Update: First time with 4 people plus a cooler and fishing gear and was able to hold 25 mph steady in deep water.
I am pretty happy with the speeds right now.... but I'm sure my pride will be damaged when I ride behind some of the modded Prodrives I've seen cruising around Tallahassee.

 Re: 17x46 Uncle J Review
3/16 is the way to go. I got about 50 hrs into my Uncle J. Hit about 80 stumps while hunting deer this year. Went with 7 stringers. Solid boat.
I re-apply steel flex as it shears off due to hard stump and log collisions. Saves the aluminum.
Enjoy your new boat !

 Re: 17x46 Uncle J Review
its badass how the gun box is incorporated into the deck of the boat to save floor space and keep a wide open boat. you added them lights on the bow after you got it?
