I am looking to purchase a surface drive. The go devil 27hp is the motor I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on. I live in Oklahoma hunt waterfowl on lakes and rivers. The boat it will be going on is a 17ft by 48 modified v hull with medium size pods. This will be my first mud motor so I would appreciate any advise that you guys can give me. Thanks |

Bud most of us on here did the 27 hp sd , and most of us learned the hard way. Get the 35 you will get more for your money. The cost is just not enough to go with a 27. Go devil makes a great motor but there are are others out there that will do the same job. I have a 35 gdsd and its works great for me, try to find someone in your area , if you haven't already and test drive them. |

BTW pods will suck on your boat with a sd, that's more of a outboard deal there. I run an 1746 with a 35gdsd and it does great. |

Thanks for the information slingshot. I ordered the 27 hp yesterday, pick it up tomorrow it should work just fine for me. I will prolly upgrade to a 35 in a few years. |

Thanks CB5331. I think it will do fine in the waters I hunt and fish....I will post some pics whats I get it in the water. What thread should I have posted in? |
