Man, you're not going to get much more out of that rig. I'm actually surprised, I figured you'd get that with less of a load. |

You are doing pretty good with what you got, the best way to tell if you can get more out of it is to check your rpms running at WOT in the water Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Going to order the tach for my motor in the next few days. It does seem that I could get a few more RPMs? |

I don't know if you'll get more out of it. Those are pretty good numbers but the tach will tell. You may fool around with the prop just to find out it was already setup well enough. |

That is ideal, enjoy that combo! Wear the kill switch lanyard, get plenty of practice, and ease into the turns. Gatorglide/steelflex the bottom; hydroturf the floor; you will have a regular mud motor Cadillac! Ibuprofen goes good with strong coffee. |

Definitely talk to the guys at Backwater when you are trying to dial in your setup. I have a swomp also and they are some awesome guys. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

So I got the tach the other day. Got it set for the v twin and says I am at 3600rpm out of water at WOT. I think that's the factory setting on the fuel injected kohlers? Going to run it Wednesday to scout and will see what I am getting in the water. |

Ran it scouting the other day it's like 3380 rpm in the water just me and dog. 19 mph So I guess my RPM s are where they should be ??? |

Lightly loaded you want your rpm closer to 4000, a little more than that won't hurt. Sounds like you need to look at cav plate adjustment, and weight distribution in your boat. What prop did it ship with? |

I had the same problem. I fixed it by taking a little slack out of the throttle cable so I now get full travel on the throttle linkage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

So what happened after tweaking the throttle? My next longtail will definitely be a BackH2o! Test drove a 35 swomp this summer, definitely a beast, not sure I want that much weight on the transom of my 1648, a bit harder to turn, might just stay with the 26.5 (formerly 27). A fine product! |

Ok, good luck! We re-start on the 12th; I am running a 9x6 prop, getting a few more rpms, 1-2 mph more than the 9x7. |

So last couple runs here is what happened....... Deep water just me and a blind.& full gas tank ran 20 mph upriver I am happy with it cause it look like that all I am going to get. I was able to run with a pretty good hunt load in shallow water yesterday and got it to plane out run about 15 mph had three guys 230 , 200 & 160 . Had a dog all the bags and seats 4 dozen decoys all in all a hell of load for a 1648! |

To repeat again, you've got a great hunting/fishing tool; add a trolling motor in the off-season of course. Dollar for dollar, that motor is a great deal- powerful, reliable, albeit slower than a high-falooting surface drive mm, but nothing to be ashamed of. Enjoy the ride, let those ADD monkeys with their loud mufflers and umpteen horses scare all the ducks out of their marshes! ![]() |

I've never figured out why the hell do ppl run loud mufflers? I can motor into my duck hole and not even bump all the birds out with my stock quiet muffler. Quiet is a advantage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The loud is to make up for certain inherent deficiencies.... ![]() |
