Post Lifetime coolers
Been looking for a new cooler- can't afford Yeti/Orca premium ones. Read some favorable reviews on the Lifetime brand. Any suggestions? I am not a commercial fisherman or guide, otherwise I would pony up the $ for one of the aforementioned brands. I would like one to use for fishing/duck hunting/ camping, we are a family of three. I appreciate any suggestions. Like many of you, have used Coleman/Igloo for years but could use a better product for conserving food, drinks, game...two great investments in the last decade was a Thermos vacuum cup and Thermacell. :ugeek:

I have several of the Ozark Trail versions and I am happy with them.

I looked at the Lifetime in Walmart one day, they are lightweight, think the warranty is 5yrs(IIRC) and just slightly cheaper than the Ozark Trail.

I think the lightweight is from a lack of flotation, I mean insulation

I don’t know anything about lifetime, but if you monitor RTICs site, they occasionally have crazy sales. Their product is EXACTLY the same as YETI, but because I was able to wait for good sales, I got a 45 for $99 once, and a 65 for like $155.

My philosophy is if I can get it for twice the cost of a like size Coleman, it’s worth it because I can get twice the life from one. I’ve stepped through many Coleman’s trying to use them as a casting platform.... I refuse to pay the insane price of yeti.

Another vote for the Ozark trail version. They’re just like yeti brand for a fraction the cost. Worst thing about any of those type coolers is how heavy they are

I got an otterbox cooler a few months ago. It's pretty great.

I like Engel and RTIC. The thin walls, not a fan of the coolers that weigh 900 lbs with no ice in them, for that weight, get a 12v fridge and forget the ice!!

Sorry for posting this here- I meant to post in the Hunting/Outdoors forum! Thank you to those who responded. I think I will get the 28 quart Lifetime cooler, looks like the right size for my needs. In summer the beer can never be too cold!

I have one of those Napa $50 free shipping Valley Sportsman 20qt coolers made by Uriah Products. I have it at work in a climate controlled environment, it barely keeps ice 24hrs with me being in it 8-10 times a day. I have to drain the water and add ice and bottled water every morning.

It isn't any better than a cheap styrofoam cooler.

I have been meaning to put a thermocouple in it and hook it up to a data logger to see how quickly it drops off.

Got the 28 quart model! Gasket seal seems better than the 55 quart model. Like the easy open latches. Rope handles may be only weak point but cooler is lighter than most of this type. Solid top, does not bow when sat upon. Camo cushion should cover the grey/blue color. Made in the U.S.A. Five year warranty! 76$, not too bad. First trial this coming Memorial Day weekend! Again I apologize for posting on this forum. :ugeek:

My favorite coolers that I have so far have been the Gatr brand coolers.
