Best boat for a 16 lt
What would be the best boat for a 16 hp lt. It's a godevil and I got it on a 14 ft v bottom and it sucks. I am wondering would a 16ft flat bottom be better or worse than a 14 ft flat bottom? Also how much impact does transom angle have? Any?

I had da exact same motor on a 16'x36" flat bottom skiff and it ran really good.

I am leaning on wider only because in a few spots I have to hunt out of the boat. You guys have no idea how lucky you are to have the amount of boat builders nearby and available. A skiff is not available around here.

Come down and get one!
Huntin out of the boat isn't much of an issue for me in a 1648. Hunted in a 1644 a few times comfortably also. I would be looking for a 1744 if I were you. Skiff would be cool if you could find one. The lt's like longer narrow boats. I'd try like hell to get something designed for a mud motor whatever you do. Transom and bracing throughout the boat is different, along with the slick bottom.

That's the way i am leaning. I have considered making a trip south to get one. I may be hunting in TX in jan. One of my hunting buddies just moved there last month and I told him I will be there to shoot a pintail with full plumage. We don't get to see the ducks fully feathered until spring . Some at the end of our season look good but nothing like down south.

get the boat built big enough that if you ever decide to get a 35sd you dont have to start all over jmo.

Re: Best boat for a 16 lt
I have my 16GDLT on a 1436 rivited boat and it seems to work out really well, UNLESS I put a lot of weight in the boat. I would suggest at least a 16 footer. and the skinnier the boat the better for a LT.
