i have a 27 kohler command mud buddy longtail. the mb dealer who sold it to me said that it has an alternator that would charge the battery. i have 2 KC daylighters and a couple fog lights from walmart. my battery dies after mayb 10 to 15 minutes of using these lights with the motor running. do these lights drain the battery faster than the motor can charge it or is it possible that there actually is no alternator or its broken? its an electric start. if there is an alternator what does it look like. i appreciate anyone's time in answering these questions. im looking forward to getting ready for the beginning of the season.

If you are just idleing, the alternator will not keep up. The alternators on those engines are very small. Most probaly, running wide open would still not charge your battery enough for all those lights.

may want to bring a small lawnmower battery for backup incase it dies.

Yeah, they have a 15/20a charging system. Needs to be running 2000+ rpm's to work properly. If you are running two 100w watt lights, you're drawing about 16a of current. Should take a while to drain a decent size battery, but the charging system would not be able to keep up with that current load. Sounds like you are running a really small battery, or the battery is bad.

im running a deep cycle marine battery from walmart. i was also thinking the battery might be bad. ive seen alot of rigs running similar sized motors with headlights. what wattage would yall recommend.

thats that florida palm frond color scheme. theres no brown in the early season and ive found that the divers hate the fast grass when it gets cold.

Battery should last a lot longer than that even with no charging system at all. Take it in and have it checked out/charged or replaced.

100w lights are fine. Whatever you prefer though. Some guys have gone to hid's and led's. I have 4 130w h3's, but don't use em much anymore. Just a single hard hat light most of the time.
