 New to mud...need advice
I currently own a 1448 sea ark modified v. Its a welded hull. I need to know if a long tail will work on the boat and if so what size hp I need to be looking for. The boat is rated for a 30hp outboard. Typically, its me, another idiot, decoys and gear. So around 500 pounds if I had to guess. Any and all information would help. Thanks in advance.

 Re: New to mud...need advice
I have a 27 hp beavertail on my 1448 mod v. I like it a lot. There's enough power to be relatively quick and it's still light enough to not HAVE to put pods on (however, I am going to put them on after season mainly to help load carrying). If I had to do it all over again I would pick the same set up but a longer boat (1648 or 1644)

a mod v wont perform as well as the flatbottoms.

 Re: New to mud...need advice
Depends if it is a tall or short transom? SHort Transoms do wonders with the LT's, talls tend to make it harder to keep the prop ride just below the surface!
