cant beat that info! thanks, those speeds are sufficient for all my needs. If i dont get that 15 footer, there are a few other 16 footers under 1500 in the area as well ill look at.

with the speeds you got i cant imagine goin up to a 1648 making more than 1 or 2 mph difference?

Here it is guys! paid 700 for boat/trailer with a 40 lb bow mounted trolling motor and 550 for the 16hp godevil. made the guy drive me around for a half hour to get the engine hot, ran fine. zero leaks in the boat. I plan on putting in removable carpet floors, and a deck that extends from the first seat to the bow, truck bed liner on the inside sides, and olive green paint outside.

1542 lowe and 16hp vanguard

You should slap some runners on that boat. It keeps the aluminum hull off the gravel and sand and makes your boat last alot longer. Also if you get stuck on a gravel bar your gonna want something to pull it off. I have a chainsaw winch and it has saved my hide a tiime or two running the river around here(Michigan). There is a guy around here who puts them on. http://shiawasseekid.com/?attachment_id=513 they are pretty slick.

those look like they would work great. thats a bit of a drive for me, but that doesnt look like somthing i couldnt do! ill run it around for the summer first and see if i have problems, only time i will really have real problems is when the river is at its lowest, thanks for the idea. and i will def keep that winch idea in mind

If you get that thing up on some shallow sand or gravel and get stuck with those runners on it will be a major PITA to push it around to get off.

Those. Chainsaw winches are the bees knees. We use them to pull dikes at managed areas but I use it to pull my boat down to rivers when there is not a launch and pull myself off stumps and gravel bars. Their a bit pricey to start but IMO they are well worth it.

Those runners are quite slick too. Its pretty much the same stuff they put in dump truck beds. When were pulling dikes we have to have someone hang onto the back of the boat to stop it from getting away goin down the opposite side. They also help make the boat a little more rigid. In a sense they are longitudinal braces just on the outside
