 7x4 or 7x5 ?
I have a 7hp Mudbuddy LT.
It came with a 7x4 prop which after 10 years is now a 6 inch prop. I want a little more speed than the original..........considering a 7x5.
Will this bog the engine down? Will I gain any more power? My boat is a 17' square end canoe.

Yeah if you go up on pitch it could bog you motor down. How much power did it feel like you had when you had it under a load when you had the good prop on there to begin with? You will gain speed alittle not much but a little but your going to loose touque in other words when you put it under a load your going to kick your self in the azz bc you going to be going slower then what you would have been if you would have stayed the same.
The LT in my opion you want it to have way more touque then you want speed but thats just IMO. Hell your already slow might as well get something that going to push like hell.

 Re: 7x4 or 7x5 ?
Thanks, loaded with 2 men, full of decoys, guns, etc..... it will run 11 mph on flat water. I'm sure any new propeller will run better than the old one.
This may sound strange but it seems like the rig runs faster in very shallow water, less than 12 inches.

11 mph is pretty dang good with a load and 7hp.
