Guys, I just completed my first longtail build using bronze bushings. I'd like to do it with tapered roller bearings on my next one. Question: Is there a shoulder machined into the shaft, or some sort of lock collar that pushes against the bearing race and takes the thrust? How is it done in the professionally built motors? Could one simply put a lock collar on the shaft, then a tapered roller bearing that sits in a race machined into a section of larger pipe welded onto the ends of the shaft housing? BTW, I'll try to post pics of my home-built motor later, so that I can hopefully get some good critique on it from you guys who've already built one. thanks, JBJ
