Post is it my prop or boat
I got a 15/46 alweded boat with a 24 hp beavertail and running 10.5 with me and another guy me 185 him 120 I made him get out with the same load by my self im only running 12.3 is this right or do I need a new prop or is my boat to short my prop is kinda wore but I thought a smaller prop was better for running a heavier load

i would replace the prop first, how many hours have you had the prop?

I have only ran this motor two season s the prop was new when I got the motor I bought it used last year before duck season

2 seasonsis a long time for a prop especially if you run hard or sandy bottom or both, so its more than likely the prop and not your boat

whoa hold up man. dont go buy a new prop just yet, you need to be looking at what rpm's youre turning at wide open. get a tiny tach if you dont have one. more than likely youre motor isnt 'opening up' all the way

It can definitely smoke a prop in two seasons.

What RPM's are you running?

measure your prop, tip to tip. how far out of spec is it?

I dont have a tach I did let the srew out on the throttle its maxed out now when it s wide open its plate to plate ill measure the prop

the prop only measures eight inches at its longest point tip to tip its a little shorter than that

it should measure 9 inches, you need a new prop, regardless of whether or not there is/isn't a RPM issue. Put a new prop on it to eliminate that problem, then invest in a tiny tach and post your RPMs in and out of water.
we can go from there.
