Post How to tell if the seal has gone bad??
I have a go devil 35 lt. I was wondering how can you tell if the lower seal is bad or not. If it is bad, is it ok to run it a little bit as long as you keep it greased up until you have time to get it fixed. is it eaiser to take it to the shop or fix it yourself. Thanks

I have had two GD LT's and I replaced the lower seals and bearings several times. You can order seals and the rest from GD. When the top seal and bearing went, I took it to the shop because I did not have all the tools. The GD schematic shows the assembly and instructions. I customarily took a grease gun with me because of the grease loss. If the grease loss is minimal don't worry too much but monitor it. Check the prop end for excessive (more than say a 1/4") play, that means both seals and bearing need replacement. I currently have an MB LT and it has way less grease loss.

If you're slinging grease everywhere from the lower seal - then they need to be replaced. you can run with it like that for a bit but you'll just keep having to put more grease in. And eventually you could just get water in your shaft housing. Your grease will be a pale snotty colour if that happens
Do it yourself though. Buy some new seals - pop the prop off and pop out the old seals replace and reinstall.
When mine go I usually empty all the off colour grease from the shaft and pump it full of new stuff.

check your shaft too. a seal will wear a groove in the shaft and make it leak. sometimes you gotta replace the shaft also, unless you know someone that will weld it up and turn it back down.
