 Home built
Well back in august I built a longtail and thought that i would finally post some pictures up of it. I hunted with it this season without any flaws besides the choke sticker on my motor was backwards and it took about a hour to fingure it out the first time that i went out. The motor is a duromax 16 hp.
support to take out the flex in the frame
Didnt get it painted before opening morning, but it runs great. 1 short of three man limit
Than I am now bored since hunting is over so I thought I would build another one. What for Idk just for fun, I am thinking ill put a 6.5 hp on it than mount the motor to my boat and sell them and buy a bigger boat. But here is the third one i am building.
First day(like 5-6 hours into it)
IF you have any question let me know and ill try and help.

 Re: Home built
How well did that pillow block bearing at the front of the shaft work? Also what type of bearing do you have at the other end?

 Home built
My upper bearing is a 2 bolt flange bearing is all I have up top than I weld a plate + 1/4 inch of bearing to the tube so than I could just bolt it on with two bolts, I have ran that set up for 5 Years now with 4 different motor and have had no problems at all.

 Re: Home built
I am so interested in making one I just bought the motor a 16hp and I am removing the governer adding in a fuel pump and beefing up the lifter springs im thinking i can get 20hp for low cost on it but the thing i am most interested in is building the frame and transom mount and the setup needed for the shaft bearings and seals. My brother n law is a welder and fabicator and is more than interested in helping me I have been looking at all kinds of plans I like your tube design if you get around to email me some ideals and thoughts and some things I need to do so I can get this built and I will take pics and keep taps on my cost and email it to you keithrlittle@live.com

 Re: Home built 16-20hp
what is the distance you made your drive shaft away from your engine shaft to allow you to instal your universal joint also you put a plate arround your drive shaft housing to bolt down a bearing could you explain that and get some up close pictures of it. what did you do to the lower end the reason I am asking is because i was just going to do it the mad motor way but I have seen people saying they had problems with it pulling out . so if you would help that would be great once I have everything layed out for mine I will record and take pics of the build step by step any up close pics of the drive shaft bearing ends would help also I am interested in your mounting system to your transom and what angle did you use. what is the height of your transom

 Re: Home built
The distance Depends on how far I put the shaft up, Ill custom fit it all make a few changing and so forth to make it work the best. ill try today and get some pictures of the bearing system i use, i am trying to find my camera so i wont have to use the cell phone. if anyone has questions you can pm me here, or email me at rendon_6@yahoo.com

 Re: Home built
that would be great because I have most of the parts I need to get started but I like the way you set up your bearings I'm not real sure on the type of bearing your talking about for the top one I am not familiar with bearings so if you could send me a web site that has a picture of what I need that would be so helpful when I get everything together I am going to take Pictures and I am going to make a video of the entire build process and I am going to use a very good hi def camcorder on stand to keep things from jumping around and then I can edit it and take out all the BS stuff and add in instructions along the bottom so it should be fairly easy to follow and I will send you a copy of it my friend the only thing I will ask from you is pretty good details of your build and bearing and seal set up because I am looking at plenty of different designs and then I am going to use the best methods I possibly can on every part of this build I am going to have a part list and price list for 2012 a description for each part and a general explanation of the build and then I will go through it step by step the entire process I really know I can put together something that will benefit all my fellow fishing friends that cant afford so high cost machine but have more than enough skills to build one. The only thing I want out of this whole thing is for people to have fun and take their kids fishing and hunting. So what ever info or pics you can send me contact me through email here and if we need to use a external email I will give you my personal one I will be ready to get started on this by the end of the month and cant wait.
