 First time problem
Just finished a 13hp honda long tail. Took it out last weekend for a trial. Engine ran good, the shaft stayed cool, the problem is thying to get over 1/2 throttle. The prop seemks to slip or cavitate. Since this is my first experiance with a long tail I am lost. Did I do something wrong when I built it, or do I have the wrong pitch prop? 14' john boat stuck in the sand with 2, 200+ #guys, had no problem getting us out. Just no top end. The higher the Rpm the worse it got. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 Re: First time problem
next time your out and it does this, try pulling up hard on the handle, if it picks up speed, you need to bend the end of your cav plate up a little at a time till it rides at the right height.

 Re: First time problem
Thanks guys. Holding up on the throttle making the motor run deeper didn't help. I'm running a 7x5 prop. I did leave room to go bigger. What do you think?

 Re: First time problem
The prop runs best just below the surface. I would say 2400rpm is all I can get without the prop silpping. Full r's it just flings water everywhere no matter how deepit is. I have a prop shop near me and I have had other props repitched. I think they can change them an inch. Would that help?Does anyone have a prop exchange that you know of. Sucks to trash a prop w/15 min. run time. The rest of the set-up works way to good to give up on. If I could figure out how to attach pictures I would. thanks dj20
