 Home built question
I built a longtail mud motor and I am having a problem. I am hoping that someone has had this problem before and knows how to fix it. When I am driving the motor I am constantly having to pull up on the motor. I can not keep the prop in the water without a lot of effort. Why is that? How do I fix that?

 Re: Home built question
Your trim tab on your cavitation plate is bent the wrong way, try bending the tab right above your prop straight or with a slight upward angle, had to do it with my gdlt. Use a large crescent wrench and close it in the center of the tab at the end of the cav plate and bend it upward, I'm not sure how strong your welds are but that's a lot of bending since its pointing so far down but just watch not to pull the whole thing off.

 Re: Home built question
lol
motor looks great!
but yeah - like said above ^^ your cav trim tab is downwards - bend it the other way - start slow - bend it 1/4" at a time and adjust from there.

 Re: Home built question
I used the plans on ebay and a harbor freight motor. The motor is really loud. Any of you guys know how to put a muffler on one of those motors? I would like to get a better motor eventually, I just did not want to spend a fortune on a motor if this did not work out.
The one addition I have added since the first two photos you see is a bicycle grip to the end and a throttle cable.
