Post Battery size for Beavertail 24hp?
I have a Beavertail LL 24hp Honda, I run LED headlights and was wondering how big or how small of a battery I should go with? Currently I have a 600 CC deep cycle, and its f'ing heavy. What do any of you all recommend? Thanks.

I have a 20 Honda gdlt and I use a small lawnmower battery. It's way below the recommended cranking amps but it starts just fine, but I also always have a big deep cycle in the boat for the troller. I haven't had to use it, yet. Come duck season ill go with the bigger deep cycle when it gets cold

I looked at the batt I'm using now and it's 280 cc amps. Honda recommends nothing smaller than 400 I believe.

Unless you had a 23 Briggs w/recoil start, I'd play it safe and go with the minimum recommended cranking amps...my marine starting battery from AutoZone is around 500 cc and no issues after two years of starting my 27 HP Kohler, but I make sure to keep it topped off, since the running lights, bilge, and interior lights run off it- I have been using a rechargeable handheld spotlight to reduce drain on the battery. I will be replacing it this year because in the heat down here the batteries are not dependable after two years. The lawnmower batteries do work and are substantially lighter, but I'd probably have two of those just in case.

I have a big marine starting battery. Way over rated the what it starts. But I have lights and other junk that runs off of it. Better safe than sorry. I also carry a battery jump box as well. I dont have a pull start.
