 New GD 23LT
Went go pick me up a new 23 on the tax free weekend and I most say I love it and my ole 18 can't compare to this thing! I'm only running about 3mph faster(deep water 21mph) than the 18hp but the power this thing has is unreal compared to the 18. I'm running it on a 16x38 GD boat with the rear floatation removed and it has a 9x6 prop. Also they finally quit making their own exhaust and started putting a Briggs stainless exhaust on it with a side exit and now you don't have to worry about water getting in the motor if you have the swivel bracket to put the motor in the boat. Re: New GD 23LT
congrats on the new motor. Make sure to check the handle for cracks after a year or so. just broke my handle for the second time in three years. The new handle style gives you more leverage but puts a lot pressure on where it connects to the motor.

Yea I've heard that with the new design. My old 18 never had that problem but I know someone that broke 3 handles.

 Re: New GD 23LT
Congratulations! Great rig. That smile on your girl says it all. I promised my seven year old daughter some teal for dinner and I have brought some home. 21 mph on any longtail is great. After break-in, you might opt for synthetic oil and grease and tweak the throttle and you might gain another 1-2 mph. Good hunting! These LT's are tried and true.
